Dennis Palmer Open House - December 7 - Scottsdale, AZ

As previously announced, Dennis Palmer is retiring at the end of the year.  Dennis joined Osco/Sav-on/Skaggs in 1975 and remained with CVS/pharmacy after their acquisition of the Osco and Sav-on freestanding stores in 2006.

CVS is hosting an Open House on Friday, December 7 from 2-6pm to celebrate Dennis’ retirement and has extended an invitation to all Osco/Sav-on Alumni Club members.  The Open House will be at CVS’s regional office at 15100 N. 90th St., Scottsdale AZ 85260 - the same building where the Albertsons Drug Division HQ was located.  The facility is now owned by Alliance Defense Fund.  CVS Regional Office is a tenant in the building.  The Open House will be held in the Atrium.

Dennis Palmer Announces retirement from CVS/pharmacy

Alumni club member Dennis Palmer announced his retirement from CVS/pharmacy this week after a 37 year in the chain drug industry having worked for Skaggs Drug Stores, Sav-on Drugs, American Stores Company, American Drug Stores and Albertsons Drug Division.

After 37 years with the company, Dennis Palmer, Senior Vice President - Operations, has informed me of his plans to retire at the end of the year after a long and distinguished career in retail.

Revlon Run/Walk For Women in Los Angeles – May 12

This will be the 18th year in a row that Sav-on alumni have been involved in the Revlon Run Walk in southern California.    Over the years, Dan Quinn has been the captain of this annual event, comprised of great teams from Sav-on Drugs, Albertsons, and later CVS/pharmacy.  This year, Dan once again returns as Team 3 Returns leader! 
 
During the course of the annual events, the Sav-on teams  were among the largest in the event and helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for this most critical fight of our times:  To save the lives of our Mothers, Sisters, Daughters and friends.   Please join in the event for this great fight and you will experience a day that you will always remember...you will see and hear from people whose lives have been saved because of the wonderful advances in the fight that have been developed at the UCLA Cancer Research Center over the past 19 years.
 
On Saturday, May 12, 2012  TEAM 3 RETURNS will be participating in the 19th Annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women.   It will be an unforgettable day!  As the day starts under a sea of confetti, we will celebrate triumphs, remember those we've lost, share stories, and unite in making a difference in the fight against women's cancers.    If you can't participate in the walk, you can join in the fight by making a pledge or donation on behalf of one of our team members. Your pledge will help fund important research into the cause and cure of women's cancers, prevention, education and support service programs for those women battling cancer and their families.
 
Every pledge will bring us one step closer to a cure.   Last year 440 alumni and friends helped to raise over $35,000, and that was our first year as an independent team.   This year our goal is $50,000 and I know that we can do it...with your help!!!  If you can't join the team, please consider sponsorship of Dan or any teammates.  To pledge or participate in the run/walk, please click HERE to access the team website.

Nominations OPEN for 2012 Club Board positions

Nominations are being accepted for 2012 club board positions up through February 10, 2012.  Ballots for member voting will be included in the February Connections newsletter and also provided on-line.

Open positions are:

  • President (1 position)
  • Vice President (1 position)
  • Treasurer (1 position)
  • Director (6 positions)

All elected officers and directors serve on the Board on a volunteer basis.  The 2012 term of service is from  April 15, 2012 through April 2013.  Responsibilities for a board member include participation in quarterly Club planning sessions and other duties and special projects as assigned.  Our major project this year is the August 2012 Osco anniversary event.

Anyone nominated for a position will be contacted by the club president and/or another board member so that we can confirm the member is seriously interested in the position.
