2010 October 14: Shirley Thompson

Shirley M. (Berg) Thompson, age 86, entered into eternal life on Oct. 14, 2010. Shirley was born in Waltham, MA lived in Braintree for many years and has lived in Hingham since 1972.


She attended Braintree schools before her graduation from Holbrook High School with high honors. Mrs. Thompson worked during World War II for the Department of the Navy in Washington, DC. After returning home she worked at the Quincy Shipyard where she met the love of her life, her late husband, Lloyd S. Thompson. Shirley then was employed for many years as a bookeeper for the former Alves Photo Service in Braintree from which she retired. Shirley loved spending time with her family and friends. Daughter of the late John and Dorothy Berg. She is survived by her loving and only son, Steven Thompson of Hingham. Beloved sister of Muriel Fitzgerald Litchfield of Framingham, John G. Berg and his wife Shirley of Attleboro, the late Anne B. Adams, and the late Richard L. Berg. Beloved sister- in- law of Doris T. Allen and Herman and Dorothy Mersereau. Beloved aunt to several nieces and nephews. Funeral was from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington St. Weymouth on Monday, Oct. 18 at 8:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours were on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
