2010 September 22: Isabel Duggan

Isabel T. (Ford) Duggan, a longtime Chelsea resident, died of natural causes on September 18 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett. She was 82 years old.

Born in Cambridge, the daughter of the late William and Isabel (Woods) Ford, she grew up in Somerville and graduated from the public schools there. In 1950 she married Alfred J. Duggan, settled in Chelsea and together they raised their family there. She worked outside the home for 29 years at Osco Drug in Chelsea and devoted her life to home and family.

Her beloved husband of 46 years, Chelsea Police Lt. Alfred J. Duggan died in 1996. She was the devoted mother of Isabel Pisano of Brookline, Alfred Duggan of Charlestown, Ann Mini of Everett, Mary Duggan of Chelsea and Peggy Duggan of Wayland; mother in law of Alan Pisano, Kathleen Morris Duggan, Bob Mini, Joseph Karbowski and the late Jack Poole; cherished grandmother of Alan and Pauline Pisano, Alfred and Bill Duggan, Brian, Bridget and Christopher Mini, Matthew, Grace and Jack Karbowski and the dear sister of Margaret Corcoran of Cambridge.

A Funeral Mass was said in Our Lady of Grace Church, Chelsea. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Should friends desire, contributions in her memory may be made to the Whidden Memorial Hospital Patient Care Fund, 103 Garland St., Everett or School Scholarships for L’Asile Haiti C/O 59 Nichols St., Chelsea.
