2013 April 14: Marion Willson

Marion E. (Thomson) Willson of Braintree- April 14, 2013 at age 99, widow of Edward W. Willson, mother of the late Richard E. Willson of Weymouth, MA and stepmother to the late Lillian (Willson) Barnett and late Herbert Willson.


She was sister of the late Charles E. Thomson of Whitman. She is survived by four grandchildren, Richard E. Willson Jr., Deborah (Willson) Gatto, Darlene (Willson) Kral and Melissa (Willson) Light all of Weymouth and their children, Colby and Kyle Willson, Stephen and Jessica Gatto, Brittany and Megan Kral, and Cody Light, as well as a great-great-grandson, Oliver S. Gatto son of Stephen and Meaghan Gatto, and many step-grandchildren.


Marion was born April 24, 1913 and was brought up in Braintree, son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Gurney) Thomson. She attended the Jonas Perkins School in Braintree. She married and settled in Weymouth and worked as a housekeeper for various families in Hingham and Milton. She also worked for several years at Alves photo in Braintree and for a short time as machine operator at Raytheon in Quincy.


Marion was a self-taught artist and enjoyed sketching faces. She enjoyed traveling; going to such places as the British Isles, Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean as well as touring with the senior citizens at 1000 Southern Artery Quincy, which she called home from 1980-2008.


In accordance with Marion's wishes, no service will be held and burial will be private.
