Gerald J. Primavera, 72, of Las Vegas, passed away April 29, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Stratford, Conn., to the late Henry and Jennie Martinelli Primavera.
Mr. Primavera was a graduate of Stratford High School, class of 1958, Fairfield University 1964, and University of Connecticut 1969, where he earned a BS in pharmacy. He was the owner of Primavera's Blake Drug in Paradise Green in Stratford from 1970 to 1986. Mr. Primavera had been an active member of the Stratford Civitan Club, Knights of Columbus at Fairfield University and Las Vegas. He relocated to Las Vegas in 1992, where he was employed as a regional pharmacy trainer at Savon Drug and as pharmacy district manager for Rite Aid Drug in Clark County.
He is survived by his wife, Melodina Lasaca Primavera; three children, Todd Primavera and his wife, Kathleen of Waxhaw, N.C., Scott Primavera and his wife, Candace of Tooele, Utah, and Darcy Primavera Vazquez and her husband, David of Dewey, Ariz.; grandchildren, Trevor, Britney and Liam Primavera of Tooele, Cody Vazquez of Dewey, and Hannah and Teddy Primavera of Waxhaw; two stepchildren, Rosemarie Mair of Las Vegas and Daniel Feola of Las Vegas; two stepgrandchildren, Ryan Hovan of Las Vegas and Angelo Lasaca of Maasin City, Philippines; two brothers, Ronald Primavera and his wife Marjorie of Cotuit, Mass., and Dennis Primavera and his wife, Patricia of Plymouth, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at St. James Church, 2110 Main St., Stratford. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
