Barbara Lee aka Bobbi aka Oma 'Bobbi', as she was known by her many friends or 'Oma' as she was known by her family and the Quartz Hill Baseball teams, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2013.
She was 82 and was stricken with COPD. She had lost one kidney to cancer, which limited her ability to survive a collapsed lung. Bobbi had worked for the Savon Drug Store in Lancaster as the office lady and auditor. She spent her last three years at Savon traveling to many of their stores training new office personnel, making safety inspections and auditing for the companies California division.
As a homemaker, mother and wife she was a cooking magician and won blue rib- bons at the AV Fair for her German Chocolate Cake. She and her husband, Captain Robert 'Bob' Wood, former Deputy Sheriff and ex-commander of the Antelope Valley Sheriffs Station loved to sail; in their 30 Newport 'Whisper Love.' They sailed the coast of California from San Diego to San Francisco. Because of these experiences Bobbi once took a swimming course at AV College. Coach Jordan passed her on the provision that she would not take swimming 11. When challenged on her swimming prowess she would quip, 'So what---who among you can swim across the Pacific Ocean.!' She raised their five children, Rick, Wayne, Deborah, Denyse and Brandon (deceased). Enjoyed her nine grandchildren, Karey, Erika, Robert, Donald, Adam (deceased) Ben, Jaclynn, Lauren and Evan. She also adored her ten great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kenna, Mackienzy, Emily, Ethan, Abigail, Paxton, Jacob, Michael and Matthew (deceased).
