2013 July 9: Wilma Jean Murdock

Wilma Jean Murdock, 74, of Independence, MO passed away July 9, 2013 at her home. She was born December 30, 1938 in Sugar Creek, MO to Emmert and Alice (Ashcraft) Lewis.


On October 25, 1958 she was united in marriage to Clarence Murdock who preceded her in death. She was a supervisor for Osco Drug, retiring in 1999. She was a member of First Church of God in Independence, MO.


Wilma enjoyed gardening, reading, crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Clarence, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carl Lewis and Butch Lewis; sisters, Anna Hazelrigg, and Mary Keck.


She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother/gee, and sister. Her remaining family is her daughters, Tracy Carty of Springfield, MO, Carol Sims and husband, Archie of Fayetteville, NC, and Jennifer Murdock of the home; sister, Dorothy Wilkinson; brother, William Lewis and wife Margie of Kingsville, MO; grandchildren, Rachel Dagley and husband, Rob of Pleasant Hill, MO, Butch Carty of Springfield, MO, Arron Sims and wife Tara of Fort Jackson, SC, Nicole Dulin and husband, Stephen of Chester, VA, Bradley Sims of Ft. Hood, TX, Shelby Murdock of Independence, MO; great grandchildren, John Dagley of Pleasant Hill, MO, Riley Dagley of Pleasant Hill, MO, and Chase Dulin of Chester, VA. Memorial service for Wilma will be 11:00 am, Monday, July 15, 2013 at First Church of God, 220 East Elm St., Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
