2013 March 27: Paul Wesley Skrede

Paul Wesley Skrede, age 88, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at his home in Beloit, Wisconsin. He was born December 13, 1924 in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Albert and Elva (Thompson) Skrede. Paul married the former Ruth Thompson on February 22, 1946 in Viroqua. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Ruth (Thompson) Skrede, his daughters Sandra (Dean) McDearmon, Marcia (Brian) Lloyd, Pamela Kroning, grandchildren Dawn (Brad) Coley, Deb (Tom) Fisher, Kimberly McDearmon, Brian (Christa) McDearmon, Shawn McDearmon, Chad Kroning, Amy (Jason) Thompson, Jeremy Kroning, step grandchildren Jon (Donna) Lloyd, Rebecca Lloyd, Ana (Chris) Bering, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his sisters Joy Jacobson of Viroqua, WI, June Perso of LaCrosse, WI, and two sisters-in-law Muriel Skrede of Cashton and Merle Thompson of Viroqua. He was preceded in death by son, Allen Skrede, brothers Albon, Donald, Sherman and Vaughn, and sisters Darlene Doll and Elizabeth (Tootsie) Olson Paul enlisted into the United States Army in 1945 and served his Country until his honorable discharge in 1947. After his discharge he moved to Fairview, WI and began farming. In 1956, he moved to Beloit and worked at the Beloit Corporation until his retirement in 1983. After retiring Paul continued to stay busy. He worked at Osco Drug, the Country Club, Boys Club and worked as a personal assistant. In his free time he enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending time with his family and friends. Paul’s Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1531 Townline Avenue Beloit with Rev. Jason Reed officiating. Friends will be received on Monday, April 1, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit and again in Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service in the church. Following the service the cortege will proceed to Floral Lawns Cemetery for interment and Full Military Burial Rites. Please share a memory or a condolence with the Skrede family on our website.
