2013 October 6: Donna Mae Rampy


Donna Mae Rampy, 77, of East Peoria, IL, formerly of Washington, IL, passed away on her birthday at 8:00 PM Sunday, October 6, 2013 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.


Born on October 6, 1936 in Rutledge, MO to Dewey and Goldie Swearingen Ausmus, she married Donald Rampy on September 4, 1954 in Edina, MO; he survives. Also surviving are two daughters; Janis Curley of East Peoria, IL and Debra (Jim) Schultheis of Hanna City, IL; four grandchildren, Erin Curley and Ross Curley, both of Washington, IL and Nicholas Miller and Ashley Fowler, both of Hanna City, IL; one great-grandson, Gavin Miller of Hanna City, IL; and her life-long friend, Patricia Grant of Edina, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Vicki Rampy, three sisters, Deanne Cupp, Fern Auspaugh, and Thelma McDonald, one brother, Bud Swearingen, and one granddaughter, Sarah Miller.


Donna was a homemaker and caregiver to her family and friends whom she loved dearly. While her children were growing she spent many years coaching the youth bowling leagues at Plaza Lanes in Washington. During her later years, she moved to Lake of the Ozarks with her husband enjoying riding their wave runners and enjoying the Lake in their boat. After experiencing the Lake and all it has to offer, her and Don moved back to Quincy where she worked at Osco Drug for 8 years, last working in 2008. Then due to illness, Donna and Don moved back to East Peoria to be closer to family.


A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Glendale Cemetery in Washington, IL. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
