Clarence Bernard, age 85 of Lansing, formerly of Homewood, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 28, 2014.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; three children: Joan Renee Yalley, Kathryn (Scott Clark), and Jeff Bernard; three grandchildren: Nastassia Yalley, Ashley Clark, and Taylor Clark; and two siblings: James (Nancy) Adam and Karen Kappel. Mr. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents: Ernest and Martha Bernard; and brother: Elmer Bernard.
Funeral services for Mr. Bernard will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2505 Indiana Ave., Lansing, IL. Interment will follow at Oak Glen Lutheran Cemetery in Lansing. Friends are invited to visit with the Bernard family on Tuesday, September 2 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing and again on Wednesday from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Bernard's name to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Lansing.
Mr. Bernard was a pharmacist and owned Bernard's Pharmacy in Lansing from 1956 – 1965. He then worked at Osco Pharmacy in Dyer, IN. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, President of the Lansing Chamber of Commerce in 1962, and a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served in many church offices. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by his family and friends.
