Shirley E. Beard, 86, of Kewanee, Il. died 7:54 P.M. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Il.
Shirley was born May 8, 1927 in Kewanee, Il. the daughter of William and Bertha (Little) Wilsey. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1945. Shirley married Elwyn D. Beard on November 3, 1945 in Kewanee. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, six sisters Mae McNaught, Leona Drummond, Lucille Edwards, Frances Weeks Prepare, Darlene Carter and Bernadine Morse and one brother Robert Wilsey.
Surviving are two daughters Jim (Sharon) Tilden of Cambridge, Il. and Becky Shepherd of Las Vegas, Nv., three grandchildren Tawnee (Sam) Lovinski, of Sterling, Il. , Matt Shepherd of Hillsborough, N.C. and Mandy (William) Stanton of Las Vegas, Nv., two great grandsons Avery and Mason Stanton and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Osco Drug in Kewanee for twenty seven years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee. She volunteered at lunchtime at the Kewanee Senior Center. She enjoyed reading, going to the casinos and her great grandsons.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, Il. Rev. Paul Copeland of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Il.
