Patricia G. Odey, 82, a resident at NHC Healthcare Town and Country, formerly of Kewanee, passed away with her children by her side at 7:15 AM, Friday, February 28, 2014 at the facility in Town and Country, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM noon on Monday, March 3 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to family for a memorial to be established.
Patricia was born February 27, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Stephan (Wroblewski) Sparrow and Stephanie (Oberg) Sparrow. She married Kenneth L. Odey on July 7, 1963 in Chicago and he preceded her in death on January 17, 1998. Survivors include three sons, John Odey of Jacksonville, FL, Kenneth Odey of Denver, CO and Robert “Bob” (Debra) Odey of Holland, WI, two daughters, Cindi Major of St. Louis, MO and Patti (Roberto) Odey Young of Kewanee, her sister, Joyce (Dennis) Piotrowski of Chicago, her brother, Stephan (Marlene) Sparrow of Chicago, a beloved niece, Janice Vogler of New Lenox, IL, nine grandchildren, David Odey, Justin, Stephen and Camron Major, Jessica (James) Doescher, Jacqueline Bahouth, Dominique Washington and Avery and Lailah Young and five great grandchildren, Caiden Bahouth and Dakota, Trevor, Leaha and Cayla Doescher. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Delores (Edward) Paliwoda and a nephew, Deed Paliwoda.
Patricia had worked as a sales clerk at Osco Drug in Kewanee for several years. She had also owned and operated several businesses in Chicago and the Plum Barrel in Kewanee. She enjoyed singing at church and socializing with friends and in her earlier years enjoyed painting and arts and crafts and had a great love of gardening.
