
Richard A. Scherschligt, 73, of Champaign, IL passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at home.
Richard was born October 12, 1940 in Sioux Falls, SD, the son of Romane and Angeline Scherschligt. On September 4, 1965, he married the love of his life, Sherly DeBlauw, in Sioux Falls, SD. Survivors include his wife, Sheryl, and their two children, Barbra (AL) Villalba of Doylestown, PA and Robert Scherschligt of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren, Dominic, Madeline, Lucas, John Paul and Marcus Villalba; two siblings, Karen Fox (Marshall, MI) and Bradley Scherschligt (Linda) (Sioux Falls, SD); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Paul Fox.
Richard served his country from 1962-64 as a pharmacy specialist in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of South Dakota State University School of Pharmacy. Upon graduation, he worked for Osco Drug for more than 30 years, making a career first as a pharmacist and then in management before retiring in 1998 as a market manager. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Richard loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a dedicated Illini, St. Louis Cardinals, and Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed fishing, tennis and golf. He was a long-time member of the Urbana Country Club and spent many hours on the golf course in his retirement. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Champaign, IL. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014, Morgan Memorial Home 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, IL.
