2014 March 10: James “Jim” Smith

James K. “Jim” Smith, 72, of Kewanee, IL. died at 2:27 P.M. Monday, March 10, 2014 at his home.


Jim was born June 30, 1941 in Kewanee the son of John E. And Dorothy (Fulton) Smith. He graduated from Kewanee High School in 1959. Jim was employed at the former Kewanee Osco Drug and for Osco’s in Indiana. He later worked at Bobick’s Golf Store in Granger, IN.


Jim married Lee Lindsey on May 15, 2010 in Kewanee. She survives along with Jim’s children, Steven Smith of Granger, In, daughters Julie Bradburn and Jill (Darren) Hanson all of Granger, IN.: Lee’s children Derek Creamer of Fort Myers, FL and Lane (Cheryl) Creamer of Germany; and, grandchildren Brandi, Andrew, Kayla, Courtney, Cody, Adam, Samuel, Brittney, Chad, Courtney, Stefanie, Jamie and Jasmine, one great granddaughter Rylee, his aunt Wilma (Jim) Thurman of Kewanee and several cousins He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Sandra Sue Gorham.


Jim was a member of the Kewanee Assembly of God Church, He enjoyed playing golf and following the PGA. Jim was an avid fisherman and for over 25 years made a fishing trip to a lake in Ontario north of Lake Superior with his fishing buddies. He especially enjoyed special time with his children and grandchildren. He worked as a volunteer on the Windmont Christmas lights.


Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, IL. Rev. Jason Rafferty will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, rural Kewanee. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Sunday, March 16th at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Assembly of God Church of Kewanee or the Windmont Lighting Fund.
