2015 July 31: Blanche Lucille Clarkson

Blanche Lucille Clarkson, 97, passed away July 31, 2015 at the Mennonite Friendship Communities, Hutchinson, KS. She was born April 29, 1918 in Redfield, South Dakota, the daughter of Clare Kent and Minnie May (Holcomb) Walton. A long time area resident she was a waitress/cook and lunch counter manager of the Osco drug store in Hutchinson.


She attended the Methodist Church, Fraternal Organization of Eagles Auxiliary, and loved to play Bingo.


On October 18, 1942 she married George Raymond “Ray” Clarkson. He passed away August 27, 1989.


She is survived by; two sons, Gary Clarkson (Judy), Assaria; Michael Clarkson (Renia), Hutchinson; three daughters, Linda Mollnow (Dan), Osage City; Peggy Brannan, Arlington; and Nancy Chapman, Hutchinson; ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bruce; son-in-law, William Brannan; a sister Margaret O’Rorke and four brothers, Kenneth Walton; Henry Walton; Robert Walton; and Arthur Walton.


A Memorial Graveside Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Larned Cemetery, Larned, with Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, KS.
