Celebration of life service for LaVonne J. Brockshus, 74, Homestead, IA was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Homestead. She died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Windmill Manor, Coralville.
LaVonne Joyce Brockshus was born Dec. 10, 1940, in Williamsburg, the daughter of Paul and Adella (Schwarting) Brockshus. She attended St. John’s parochial school and graduated from Williamsburg High School. She worked at numerous places, including an implement dealership in Oxford, and Woolworths, Iowa City, and she retired from Osco Drug, Iowa City.
She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Homestead. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and attending craft shows.
The Rev. Terry Small officiated at the service. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made for St. John’s Lutheran Church or Lutheran Interparish School, Williamsburg. Brockshus is survived by her sister, Janice (Jim) Cerveny, Swisher; one niece, Ann (Dan) Parsons, Wilton; one nephew, Darren (Kristy) Cerveny, Moscow, and five great-nieces and great-nephews, Karen and Corey Parsons and Ryan, Amira and Sophia Cerveny. She was preceded in death by her parents.
