Alan Ross Powell, 69, of Columbus, IN died at 3:13 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Alan was born in Vincennes, Indiana, January 9, 1947, the son of Phillip and Mary Hagemeier Powell. He was a pharmacist in the U.S. Army and worked as a pharmacist for Osco Drug for 30 years, retiring from Doctor's Park Pharmacy in 2013.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children, Andrea Powell of Greenville, South Carolina, and Brad (Sereta) Powell of Columbus; a granddaughter, Ella Powell of Columbus; sisters, Shirley (Larry) Martin of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Lou Ann (Steve) Shoaf of Evansville, Indiana; and brothers, Dan (Linda) Powell of Carmel, Indiana, and Gary (Cindy) Powell of Vincennes, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with the Rev. Howard Boles officiating. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to service time Wednesday. Inurnment will be at a later date.
