2021 November 10th: Bernadine Socol

Bernadine "Bernie" Harriet Socol

Wauwatosa - Passed away peacefully on November 10, 2021, at the age of 91. She was born October 29, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Jack and Sarah Wein.

Bernie worked in retail drug stores most of her life, starting when she was in high school. For a number of years, she operated drugstores beside her husband, Ervin Socol, the last being Riverside Drugs on Milwaukee's East Side. At the age of 65, she began a twenty-year position at the Osco (now CVS) Pharmacy on Port Washington road in Fox Point. Bernie was very proud of the award she was given by Hallmark for her greeting card display at CVS. She reluctantly retired at the age of 85, due to declining health.

Bernie was an avid bowler and golfer. It was very rare that she would miss a week of bowling. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Bernie was an avid baseball fan starting with the Milwaukee Braves. She enjoyed attending as many Milwaukee Brewer games as her schedule permitted. She also enjoyed attending Milwaukee Bucks games, as well as watching the Green Bay Packer games on television.

She was a member of Hadassah, Women's American ORT, and Congregation Shalom.
