2022 February 6th: J T Sparks


John Thomas “JT” Sparks, 69, Indianapolis, Indiana, died Sunday, February 6th, 2022 at Community Hospital South, Indianapolis, Indiana. JT was born on June 5, 1952 in Bloomington, Indiana, the son of the late Fred C. and Kathryn L. (Bennett) Sparks.

JT had been employed with Osco Drug Stores for many years until bought out by CVS Drug stores, he retired as store manager in October of 2021. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood, Indiana. JT enjoyed his family and grandchildren and enjoyed traveling with family and a group of very good friends to many exotic places. He also enjoyed playing golf with family and friends. He was very competitive in golf, cards and table games. JT served in the United States Navy where he learned to cook for large groups, his love for cooking continued after leaving the Navy and provided many wonderful meals and desserts for family and friends.

Survivors include, two sons, Chris (Miranda) Sparks of Mooresville, Indiana and Matt (Sarah) Sparks of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Kathy (Ron) Deremiah of Bloomington, Indiana; six grandchildren, Anthony Pappano, Sophia Sparks, Mason Sparks, Brooklyn (Luke) Welty, Tyler Todd, Landyn Berry and Grayson Sparks.


Visitation for JT will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022 and after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, Indiana. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at The Funeral Chapel. Pastor John Robertson will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington, Indiana. The Monroe County Honor Guard will provide Graveside Military Services.
