2022 November 1st: James “Jim” R. Camp



James (Jim) R. Camp, age 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at his home in Shawnee, Kansas surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Jim was born on September 19, 1939, in Petersburg, Nebraska, the second child of Jerome and Louise (Seier) Camp’s eight children. Jim met Anna Catherine (Cathy) Howard in Nebraska at his brother’s wedding, and they were married on September 1, 1962, living in Omaha until 1975 when the family moved to Bonner Springs, Kansas. Jim worked in retail management devoting much of his career to Skaggs Drug Store and Osco Drug. He was very involved in Sacred Heart Catholic Church and his community and could often be found at local auctions and holding epic garage sales. Jim loved God, his family, and fishing and enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Nebraska and to Trout River Lodge in Northwest Ontario Canada and instilled this love in his family.

Jim is survived by his six devoted children: Mike (Jane), Steve (Charlene), Lisa (Steve) Sullivan, John (Kim), Sheila, and Shelly (Roger) Noll. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren (Audrey, Charlie, Tony, Jake, Marissa, Josh, Alyssa, Katie, V, Danielle, Caitlyn, Ryan, and Annie), four great-grandchildren (Wyatt, Laci, Bradley, and Blakely), five siblings, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his loving wife Cathy of 55 years, his parents, his parents-in-law Harold (Joker) and Rose Howard, grandson Christopher Sullivan, and siblings and siblings-in-law Charles Tiede, Kathleen and Don Starman, Robert and Lois Camp, Glenda Howard, Paul and Loretta Herbick, Larry Henn, and Leon Howard.
