2023 September 9th: Dennis Galvin

Dennis G. Galvin passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9th, at Advenia Care of Wellesley, supported by the love of his family. He was 81. Raised in East Boston, Dennis was the son of the late John and Julia (Goglia) Galvin. Dennis served in the US Army during the early years of the Vietnam War. After his discharge he embarked in a 49 year career as a logistics and receiving manager at major warehouses for pharmacy and retail businesses. A lover of the outdoors, Dennis relished spending time with family and friends walking, hiking, canoeing and skiing. He took his family every year camping at Sebago Lake in Maine where they had wonderful times and also made life-long friends with generations of families with whom they camped. Dennis rose with the sun every morning and began his day canoeing on the still lake and returned in time to cook plenty of bacon for everyone, a skill he mastered over the years. He is remembered for his kindness and thoughtfulness towards others. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The beloved husband of Janet K. (Buscanera) Galvin, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage, Dennis was a loving father to Jeneen Galvin Johnson of South Paris, Maine, Julianne Evenhus and her husband Jeremiah of Somerville and Denise Marques and her husband Colby of Andover. He was a loving grandfather to Gage, Trace, Odin, Brody, Emilia, Eloise, and Max. He was predeceased by his brother Francis X. Galvin, but leaves many dear relatives and extended members.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, September 14th from 4 through 8 PM and again on Friday morning, September 15th at 9 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Dennis by making a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.

I remember Dennis well from our early years at Turn*Style and Osco Drug. He was such a pleasant, thoughtful, hard-working person. He had a work ethic that set an example for others to follow. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family......Joan Gumbleton
