Peabody – Scott E. Balke 56, beloved husband of Rose (Leone) Balke, died Wednesday evening, December 17, 2025 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Waukegan, IL, he was the son of Janis L. (Wendlandt) Yarde of South Carolina and the late Dennis A. Balke. He graduated from Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH, class of 1987. He continued his education later in life, earning his license in plumbing.
Scott had been employed for many years as a plumber for the Plumbers Local Union #12 serving the Boston area until the time of his illness.
A resident of Peabody for the past twenty-five years, he was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Rose with whom he shared twenty-seven years of marriage, he is survived by his daughter, Victoria Balke and son, Michael Balke, both of Peabody, his mother, Janis L. (Wendlandt) Yarde of South Carolina, a brother, Brian Balke and his wife, Rebecca of New Hampshire, two nephews, Davis and Alec Balke of New Hampshire, a step-mother, Claudia Balke of California, his mother-in-law, Edvige Leone of Malden, two brothers-in-law, Alfonso Leone and his wife, Tracy Crocker of Peabody and Jerry Leone of Malden.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a service in the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (st.jude.org).
