2026 April 9th: Jane Sprotte

Jane Margaret Sprotte passed on April 9, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on April 15, 1964, in California, Jane lived in Hawthorne, California. Jane was a longtime district bookkeeper from the old Sav-on District #1.  We'll post additional information as it becomes available.

A beautiful Celebration of Jane's Life was held on June 13th, 2026 at 2:00PM at St. Mark Parish 940 Coeur D Alene Ave. Venice, CA 90291.

Jane's Obituary:

Jane, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother and friend, passed away after a life courageously fought.  Despite facing numerous battles, she remained positive and met every challenge with a smile.  She leaves behind her husband, Tim; her sons, Austin and Spencer; her daughter, Courtney; and her parents, Jerry and Monica.  Jane was born and raised in Los Angeles with her siblings-Julie, Jeanie, and Jack.  Jane also leaves behind eight adoring nieces and nephews-Emily, Matthew, Morgan, Megan, Ryan, Sarah, Kelly and William.  She also has four great nephews-Mason, Warner, Bennett and Holden.

Jane’s educational path led her from St. Marks Catholic School to St. Bernard’s High School and ultimately to Santa Monica Community College.  Jane began her career at Sav-on Drugs scooping ice cream.  Over the next 38 years, she climbed the ranks across various departments, eventually retiring from Sav-on/CVS.

In the late 1980’s, Jane was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease and underwent chemotherapy.  The cancer recurred in 1994, leading to a bone marrow transplant at City of Hope.  The procedure required her to sign documents acknowledging a 99% chance of not being able to have children.  Shortly after, she married Tim on February 1, 1997.  They were married at Knott’s Berry Farm in the Church of Reflections marking the beginning of 29 years of cherished companionship. Defying medical expectations, Jane and Tim welcomed their first son, Austin in 1997, followed by Spencer in 1999, and Courtney in 2000.  Jane approached these unexpected blessings with her characteristic resilience, proving the ‘no’ was merely a suggestion to try harder.  She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children, ensuring every moment and occasion was memorable and filled with boundless love and effort.

After 28 years in remission, the cancer returned in late 2022.  Throughout her journey, Jane underwent numerous treatments and procedures, maintaining a steadfast belief that the outcome would justify the struggle.  Her passion for life shone through in her care for others, regardless of her own battles.

Jane loved to stay active, enjoying swimming, cooking, entertaining, country music, and above all, shopping.  She treasured family holiday celebrations, always hosting dinners and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. 

Today, we honor Jane, whose profound impact touched all who knew her.  Supported by an incredible network of family and friends, she taught us to embrace life fully and to love fiercely, even when it seems impossible.
