It was a brilliant day on the General Store Patio as 7 hearty retirees (in some fashion) gathered to catch up and exchange recent experiences. The first order of business is the celebration and recognition of Tim Sauer’s 70th birthday. As you can see, he looks great. He was a little disappointed with our gifts, but is hopeful that his afternoon/evening family and friends celebration will bring an abundance of joy. Later in June other family will visit to add to these events. He indicated that his son in law who is a jet pilot has ended his latest deployment and will be able to attend the festivities.. Frank Stock told us that his wife Caroline is volunteering at a Phoenix Methadone clinic through their church support. They get a first hand look at the sad challenges facing so many because of bad choices and the difficulties and results that lead to homelessness and major life disruptions. Ron Grove was in attendance after some absence while moving residences and he is happy to announce that he and Liz have been living at Vi in Grayhawk for 6 weeks and enjoying their new digs. They will be visiting Missouri in September and October this year as they are renting the condo out during prime time. Bill Harbeck, enjoying his Western Omelet was mentioning that they would be doing some traveling to see family in Milwaukee and and Michigan. Bill was reminiscing the days of old when office associates spent a day working in a store…Initially, his account management did not prepare him for the activities in retail…I wonder if they wanted him back for a second day. It was great to see Lee Hoekstra who still is spending time in Prescott and also farming in South Dakota. It is so predictable that home grown South Dakotan's always seem to return to their roots in some form…I do think you can go home. John Eversman made a welcome return and it was great to catch up with he and his family. His daughter lives in the Valley of the Sun as does his two brothers, one is a doctor working at Mayo since it first arrived in Scottsdale and he is going to retire in August to enjoy the abundance of golf courses here. Mark works for Troon in corporate head quarters in charge of food and beverages across 25 locations. Nice to have family close. John never changes and looks outstanding.
It is always a pleasure to catch up with our friends..It is like time stands still when we once again group together...Gerry
