Albertson's is testing artificial-intelligence-driven salad bars in six East Coast supermarkets through a partnership with Picadeli.
Albertson's is the First U.S. Grocer to install the equipment.
Picadeli's concept will be evaluated as grocers explore ways to enhance their prepared food offerings and stand out with shoppers.
The salad bars each carry about 55 items and the prices are $8.99 or $9.99, depending on the store.
In Europe, the system has translated into higher sales and improved profitability, according to the company.
