In April 2022 I retired after almost 48 years with Star Market, Osco Drug and Jewel-Osco. I’m not sure how that is possible since I’m still 14 years old in my head.
I have been extremely fortunate to have worked with so many extraordinary, talented individuals over the years—many of whom have remained good friends—including my wonderful husband, Jim.
Jim and I are looking forward to spending more time at the ocean, visiting family and friends, reading a few good books, and possibly even doing a little gardening.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a special “thank you” to Larry Wahlstrom, Bobbie Riley, Liz Abrantes, John Nieman III, Bill Bates, Gary Hunstiger and Sandy Hoscheit, who were instrumental in my obtaining jobs in Chicagoland with Osco and Jewel-Osco. With their assistance I was able to work another 20 years with the company after leaving New England. I will always be grateful.
Special thanks also to those who encouraged me to contribute to JCRE back in the ‘70s, despite my insistence that I wasn’t going to be staying with the company very long. Ha! 😃 Peace and love, Debbie
