Diane Heatter

Diane Heatter joined Osco as an in-house temporary employee at 1818 Oak Brook, Illinois in October, 1975. She worked with Tom Nielsen on the newspaper and did “attitude surveys” for Turn*Style, Republic Lumber and Osco. Asked to go full time in December,1975, joining the Human Resources (then called Personnel) team for the Western Region. Later she joined the Merchandising team, where she worked with Bob Dose and Ted Dost in the early stages of the Liquor Department. Diane spent her twenty-five years of service as an integral part of the Liquor Department watching and helping it grow to a Liquor/Beer/Wine/Soda/Tobacco Department. She was responsible for proofing of advertising ads and products for Chicago, Central and Indiana markets.

During that time, she worked with a host of buyers and directors from Geoge Poulos, Bob Vonderhaar, Mitch Oddo, Dave Walsh, Steve Minniear, Mike Koestler, Glenn Edmondson, Dave Belzer and Julie Andrews, Liquor License Coordinator.

Diane retired from Osco in 2000 and now serves on the Board of Directors of our Alumni Club and also serves as a Eucharistic Minister at her church. She still enjoys her sports -- bowling and golfing in two leagues during their seasons. Has traveled throughout the United States, including Hawaii and lived/traveled in Alaska), Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean. Her favorite trip still is her California Vineyards trip during her Osco years -- seeing many of the vineyards that supplied our stores and staying on the grounds of Sonoma Valley at Sutter Home and Glen Ellen as well as in the Redwoods at Fetzer vineyards.

Diane has been married for 44 years, lives in Orland Park, Illinois with her husband Ken Heatter, who had served as district manager for the Chicago Region of Turn*Style. He later served as National Director of Sales and Marketing for Gerber Childrenswear food and drug division. Diane traveled with him as he called on many food and drug accounts meeting many of our former Osco employees that have spread across the country. She is the proud grandmother of six (ages 4-11) -- which keeps her very busy. Currently her son, Kevin is Executive Senior project manager for Pepper Construction and her daughter, Kristen has almost 20 years of service with Osco Drug and is currently serving as Personal Director at our New Lenox, Illinois Jewel Osco.
