I am sharing photos with alumni club members which were taken on November 16, 2012 of the Grand Opening of our Sparrow's Nest Thrift Store and Donation Center in Algonquin, Illinois.

Members from the area Chambers of Commerce of Algonquin/Lake in the Hills, Huntley, Crystal Lake and Cary, our Board of Directors, guests and Store Staff attended this event. This is our fifth store. Our other Sparrow's Nest Thrift Store and Donation Centers are located in Woodstock, McHenry, Cary and Palatine. All revenues from the stores directly support Home of the Sparrow, Inc., a 501(c)3 non- profit agency that provides transitional shelter and supportive services to homeless women and children in Northern Illinois. We are excited to now be in the Randall Road corridor which will give residents of Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, Crystal Lake, Huntley and other surrounding communities an opportunity to donate and help in the fight to end homelessness among women and children. 2012 marks our 25th year and during this time our agency has helped over 1200 women and children find permanent housing. To find out more about Home of the Sparrow, Inc, visit our website at http://www.hosparrow.org/. In the pictures, the store manager of our new Algonquin location is cutting the ribbon. Her name is Kathleen Jaster and she was a former Assistant Store Manager at the Jewel/ Osco on Lee Street in Des Plaines, Illinois which was my first store as Store Manager when it was a free-stander. What serendipity!
