Where Are They Now: Curt Larson

After 41 years in retail pharmacy, I am still doing well.  I retired in 2011 from CVS and other than the people, I haven’t missed it at all.  I thoroughly enjoyed my days with Osco Drug as the people I met and worked with were outstanding.  What a great time in my life.

I have 2 sons, with one being in Edina MN and the other in Fargo ND. I am blessed to have 2 wonderful daughter in laws and 5 beautiful granddaughters, which 4 of them are hockey players…. the other being in theater and arts.

Unfortunately my wife passed away in 2016, but fortunately I met a wonderful women and we have been together for 8 years.  I am very blessed to have her in my life.  We spend time together in AZ, but we both have lake homes in MN and we see each other daily.

I used to play a lot of golf but never was any good. The last few years has been extremely limited due to balance issues, I think because of a stroke a couple of years ago.  I love to travel but the future is unknown. We have traveled to Europe, Hawaii, and Norway and thinking about another river boat cruise in Europe if we can work it out.

I have so many fond memories working for Osco starting out as a Pharmacist in Aurora IL, then going into the management role and being promoted to Great Falls MT.  After that I moved to

Aberdeen SD, and then to Fargo ND.  It took me 6 years to become a manager…..I must have been a very slow learner.  In 1986 I became a regional trainer for Washington, Idaho, and Western Montana for the old Skaggs stores.  In 1988 I was promoted to Regional Pharmacy Manager out of Denver, so I moved our family to Denver for few years before those stores were sold. I moved back to Fargo in 1990.  In 1995 I was promoted to DM/RPM…. the first in the company.  Over time I supervised stores from Seattle to Albuquerque to Green Bay and everything in between.

Probably my most enjoyable year was 1989 in Denver with Dave Maher.  He was an outstanding leader and role model. Even though my stores on average my were filling less than 800 scripts a week, he made me feel like the most important person in the company…..an incredible memory.

I am incredibly blessed to have worked with so many great people….stayed friends with many of those people,  and I’ll end with “Thanks for the memories.”
