Where Are They Now: Dave Schoenbeck

Dave Schoenbeck…I left retail in 2007, 10 years after co-founding and leading the operations of a very successful big box retail juvenile chain called Babies "R" Us. After, we sold the company to private equity investors, I tried retirement and failed quickly. After a short period, I started a business & executive coaching firm (www.daveschoenbeck.com) in a small, rural cowboy town north of Scottsdale, Arizona. I thoroughly enjoy coaching CEOs of small to mid-sized businesses all around the globe.

My wife Ellen and I have been married since 1974 and relocated for the company six times. We have two daughters and a son who, with their spouses, all have fantastic business careers. In addition, they have blessed us with five amazing grand kids.

We enjoy playing frequent desert golf and traveling, although it's hard to leave Arizona (well, except for three weeks in the summer).

Our Osco/Sav-on/American Stores years were a fantastic experience for our family. So often find myself teaching clients the management and leadership lessons that we all learned during the crucible of retail. I wouldn't trade those years and relationships for anything! Peace!
