Where Are They Now: Dorothy Norton

I worked at Sav-on Drug for 22 years. I left in 1996 to pursue a teaching career and furthering my education.  I live in Granada Hills, Ca and have been here since 1990. My family lives nearby and everyone is doing great.

Currently, I am working part-time at an accounting services office doing payroll, processing tax returns and some bookkeeping. I have been working for this small office for almost 10 years. It is a family atmosphere similar to the my days at Sav-on. 

I am very involved with my church, teaching Adult Confirmation classes and I am a member in a wonderful ministry, Stained Glass Media, which uses media to enhance the mass experience for our parishioners.

I love to spend time with my grandson River, going to his soccer practices and games, basketball games and weekly dinners. He is 91/2 and the best kid in the world.

I get together with friends often to play cards, games, go to plays, and take small day trips. 

I have been blessed to have traveled to many countries with my mom, friends and family. It is difficult to say what was my best vacation so I will share with you the last vacation I went on. We traveled to a destination wedding in Spain for my oldest nephew in 2023. We began our trip in Dublin, Ireland for 9 days visiting several museums and going on local tours. We then traveled to Paris for 2 days to see the Eiffel tower and tour the city. Our next stop was to Spain for the wedding week celebration. It was a great time in the town of Alozaina, a small town in the province of Malaga. After the wedding, we drove to Portugal – which was amazing, visiting Cascais, Lisbon and Porto. We finished our trip with a four day return to Dublin to say goodbye to my other nephew who was working there. It was a fabulous trip with amazing adventures with family and friends.

FONDEST MEMORIES OF SAV-ON:

Christmas visits – friendly competition with friends in other stores in our district for the best visit.

Teaching management classes to new managers and assistants.

District-Regional meetings -Chicago, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Catalina, and Disneyland Hotel. I loved spending quality time catching up with my fellow managers and friends.

I am thankful for all the close friendships that I made and have wonderful memories of the time we spent together.
