I have been retired since July of 2020. Cindi retired in 2022. Being empty nesters with no grandkids we have taken several trips overseas and one trip to Alaska over the past three years.. many of these trips have been pilgrimages. While we have enjoyed every one of our trips, our pilgrimage to the Holy Land and our trip to Switzerland rise to the top of the list. We already have three more trips on the books for 2026!
We still live in Algonquin Illinois. When not traveling, I keep myself busy by volunteering at the local food pantry a few days a week, playing my guitar and performing at supportive and assisted living facilities, being part of a praise and prayer band that performs monthly, being active in the Knights of Columbus, the church choir and Parish Finance Council.
I play as much golf as I can as well. They say the there are three phases of retirement. The Go Go years, the Slow Go Years, and the No Go Years. Cindi and I are doing as much as we can to stay in the Go Go Years!
The Fondest memories I have of my Jewel Osco years was when Sam Skaggs bought Jewel Osco in the mid-80s and I was assigned the role of a Regional Trainer in the Intermountain Region…working with the Skaggs Store Management teams in the most beautiful areas of the country to create and blend systems. Truly the start of a groundbreaking era and then in the late nineties being one of first merchants to travel to Asia to develop seasonal assortments directly with the factories was a great honor!
( I have included a couple of pictures. The first picture is Cindi and I in Zaragoza Spain and the other picture is me golfing at Old Head in Kinsdale Ireland.
